About this listen

Jackdaws by Ken Follett is an irresistible novel of the French Resistance, love, courage and revenge set in the Second World War, read by Emilia Fox, who expertly brings the story to life.

A Failed Mission
Two weeks before D-Day, the French Resistance try to destroy a telephone exchange vital to Nazi communications. Heavily defended, the mission fails disastrously.

A Daring Plan
With invasion looming, Flick Clairet, a British secret agent, proposes a daring but perilous new plan. She, along with an all-female team – the Jackdaws – will infiltrate and neutralize the exchange before Allied Forces land in France.

A Race Against Time
However, unbeknownst to Flick, Rommel has assigned a brilliant spy-catcher – Dieter Franck – to crush the French Resistance. And now Franck is closing in . . .

If i could give ten stars I would. Thoroughly gripping, realistic characters with immense courage: as shown by the real SOE heroes of WW2.
Thank you for writing this.

Worth ten stars

Try as I might, I couldn't stop thinking that Emilia Fox's narration borrowed rather too much from 'Allo 'Allo...

All good but....

Totally gripping, and incredibly credible. For me, at least, the very best Follett of this genre yet.

Incredibly Credible.

A great tale as you might expect from Ken Follett. Narration was good overall, the only slight downside was the German accent of the narrator. All of her German characters sound like John Cleese doing ‘ve haf vays of making you talk’ . But that aside it was brilliant all round.

Excellent yarn
