Summary

It's always the husband...unless it's the best friend.

Kate, Aubrey and Jenny are inseparable at college - friends who promised they'd always be there for each other.

But 20 years later, their friendship is about to take a deadly turn.

Kate married the gorgeous party boy, Aubrey married up, and Jenny married the boy next door, but when one of the friends dies in shocking circumstances, will everyone assume that it's always the husband? Or could it be the best friend?

Wasn't what I expected

Without giving too much away.....I expected this to be about a rocky marriage but instead it's about friendship that formed in college years and how it influenced the characters in their adult years. It switches back between past and present in quite a clear way and keeps you guessing right till the end.

Some good parts but some bad

Not the best book I’ve read, the storyline was at points very unbelievable. It wasn’t a bad listen but it certainly wasn’t a great listen.

Long winded

I found myself getting more and more irritated, but pressed on regardless. A number of solutions to the outcome were suggested, but the ending failed to excite. Sorry

Great twist

A twist I was not expecting. The story was rolling nicely. Good voices. Multi dimensional characters.

Boring and repetitive

The story was ok but the writing was boring and repetitive. Waste of my time. Not the narrator's fault, she was good, but the material she had to work with was less than great!

One of the most enjoyable listens

The book narration coming from multiple point of view characters gives the book more freshness than if it was all from one persons, creating a complex and layered story, with references to major events or motives pass and present. The book weaves the pass with the present very well rushing you to want listen more so you can full understand, yet you are never confused about what timeline you are on.

For me this was a complete enjoyable read, being someone who likes to guess the who, in who did it, I was kept guessing and just wanted to talk to someone about my theory and idea about the murder(s), so would be a perfect read for any book clubs or group of friends. I was truly shock about the ending and didn't see it coming, with all the clues there this was down to the fantastic set up of the book and story writing. .

For me half the appeal to a book is the story but also the performance ,January Lavoy has a calming and soft voice you would expect to hear from your best friend, she did a brilliant job each characters voices matching the characters personally and the pacing perfectly.
