About this listen

A new edition of this perennial classic. "The best introductory work on Tibetan Buddhist tantra available today." - Janet Gyatso, Harvard University.

What is tantra? Who is qualified to practice it? How should it be practiced? What are the results? According to Buddhism, every human being has the potential to achieve profound and lasting happiness. And according to the tantric teachings of Buddhism, this remarkable transformation can be realized very quickly if we utilize all aspects of our human energy - especially the energy of our desires. Introduction to Tantra is the best available clarification of a subject that is often misunderstood. Tantra recognizes that the powerful energy aroused by our desire is an indispensable resource for the spiritual path. It is precisely because our lives are so inseparably linked with desire that we must make use of desire's tremendous energy not just for pleasure, but to transform our lives. Lama Yeshe presents tantra as a practice leading to joy and self-discovery, with a vision of reality that is simple, clear, and relevant to 21st-century life.

Not over cluttered with jargon and technical words. I really liked this book. It gets straught to the point, metaphors used to describe difficult ideas are well chosen and easy to grasp.

A Great Introduction

I have learned a lot for my personal journey ahead. Especially for my inner life and the way I really want to be. Highly recommended if you believe you have an spiritual opening that calls for wisdom and knowledge that can’t really be transmitted with words.

It’s a good introduction to Tantra. Written by the great Tibetan yogi Lama Yeshe, it gives an insight into the practice and science behind Tantric Buddhism.
The performer has a clear, calm and enjoyable voice.

I loved this book, so much that I listened to the whole thing in one sitting.

I've largely considered myself agnostic, veering towards spiritualism and as such, have shown an interest in many religions and beliefs. Nothing has ever quite fitted for me.

I've developed my own beliefs over the years by taking what feels right from the many options out there and forming something that I feel comfortable living with. I was really surprised to learn that the majority of this book reflects what feels right for me. I was also surprised that it was openly acknowledged and accepted that other religions exist and it's OK to hold your own beliefs and follow your chosen religion but still choose to follow the practices outlined. This is such a refreshing change from the strict teachings of most organised religions and will certainly encourage me to read/listen to the follow up book.

For me, the narrators slight accent added an authenticity to the book and I often found myself believing that the author himself was narrating instead of an Iraqi-Canadian actor (an excellent choice).

All in all a fabulous must-read.

Interesting & Enlightening
