About this listen

From number-one New York Times best-selling author and literary phenomenon V. C. Andrews (Flowers in the Attic, My Sweet Audrina) comes a shivery Gothic tale of romance, class divisions, and the secrets that haunt families for generations.

Ever since Fern could remember, she and her mother have lived as servants in Wyndemere House, the old Gothic mansion of the Davenport family. She may have been a servant, but Fern developed a sweet friendship with Dr. Davenport's son, Ryder, and she was even allowed free range of the estate.

But Dr. Davenport has remarried, and his new wife has very different ideas about a servant's place. Now Fern and her mother are subject to cruel punishments and harsh conditions and aren't even allowed to use the front door.

Yet, for all her wrath, the cruel woman cannot break the mysterious bond between Ryder and Fern. And when Ryder invites Fern to join his friends at prom, there's nothing Mrs. Davenport can do to stop them, nor can she continue to guard the secret that haunts the women of Wyndemere - but there's nothing she won't try.

After all, reputation is everything.

Story dragged quite a bit which is a shame as i!I'm sure this is original Andrews book. Iv read all her early stuff again an again over many years . This book seemed to of had opportunity to better but I will see what book 2 is saying... I remember when For a long time after Vc's death that was that then they said there was some projects of unfinished books that was found an I could be wrong but I'm sure the first was was "DAWN" ? really good books but over the years I can't imagine all of these new ones are her. You can.just tell anyway. But bk to this book it's probably the most disappointing original Vc Andrews

Definitely not one of my favourite Vc Andrews

fab story. vc andrews as usual writes compellingly and plot with lots of twists and turns. however narration regarding the male characters was awful in fact creepy in a bad way I struggled to finish it because of that wouldn't like to ever here the female narration imitating a male voice. however if it's a different narrator will definitely listen to full series

enjoyable

Honestly, I couldn't finish it. As soon as Paul was brought in, I could see this was just like every other Neiderman book, ie boys treated as babbling idiots. Just because someone plays a sport, doesn't mean their entire vocabulary is about the sport.
