His dreams of a happy-ever-after lie crushed at his feet. Novelist Troy Steele has an axe to grind against Hollywood heartbreaker types. House Arrest
House arrest
I love Brina's books, and honestly, this one, I loved the outline of the story and was so excited to start reading it.
I read this book when it was first released and had a minor issue initially, but hearing it on audio, I didn't have the same problem with the start of their relationship. Loved it.
Original review (There was only one issue I had with it, and that was the start of Noah and Shawn's relationship. I love insta love as most people do, but seeing as Noah had lost his husband and was a lawyer, there were a few sentences that I thought shouldn't be in there. But a great story.)
Later on, though, Brina had me in tears as she often does. I could have just wrapped up Shawn and taken him home with me. Henrik and the Judge are great side characters who look after Shawn and are great role models.
This book is full of love, hate, family, turmoil, and hot sex. It is a story of how no matter the odds against you are, there can be a happy ever after.
The narration was clear. Well worth the read/listen. I had to speed up this book to 1.50 on audible, which is a little faster than usual for me.

Performance delivered everything I hoped for
I really loved this book when I read it and have been eagerly awaiting the audiobook. I particularly wanted to see if James Talbot could capture four things. First, there was a character I particularly loathed and I wanted the scene where he got put in his place to be well done. It was. Second, Judge Braun was one of my favorite characters and I wanted to hear him. Talbot perfectly captured his intelligence as well as his concern both for his son and for Shaun. Third, I wanted it to come through in the performance just how empty Noah's life really had been since the death of his husband and how, although on the surface, he seemed to have it all how much he needed someone like Shaun in his life to love and care for. Again, major success. Finally, after these particular things, I wanted to get lost in the audio with all the different characters and emotions just as I had in the book. Again, the performance delivered perfectly for me. This will be a definite re-listen.

Awesome!
I love this story so much. Jane's Talbot does such a wonderful job bringing Noah and Shawn to life. Shawn just needs someone to love and appreciate him, and Noah, after losing his husband, just needs to find someone to love. The two meet under special circumstances, and the sparks fly. This is another great book from my favorite writer, Brina Brady. A must-read for anyone who loves her books.

Shawn and Noah
I really liked the idea of this book. Shawn had been through a lot and survived. After being kicked out by his father at sixteen, his sister let him stay with her until she moved out of state. I'm still not sure how Shawn ended up with a guy like Jasper. But I suppose it was so he could meet a wonderful man like Noah. Although Noah is another story. His husband had died, and Noah seemed to be still grieving so his father, a judge, had Noah do him a favor in the hopes being around this young man, Shawn, would do him some good. Shawn was to be on house arrest for six months for making a mistake that could've been a lot worse. And right from the beginning of Shawn's time in Noah's home Noah was all over him, expecting things of him and then getting upset when Shawn wanted his own space. There's a lot going on in this book. I'm glad Shawn and Noah got their happy ending, I was getting a little worried for them.
Narrator James Talbot does fabulous job. I really enjoyed his narration of this book.

I love this book. James Talbot really brings this story to life and makes you love the characters even more. Shawn O’Brien makes a big mistake after finding his boyfriend in bed with another man. He breaks the law which jeopardizes all he's worked for. With the help of friends he gets house arrest. But where will he stay. Noah Braun is a District Prosecuting Attorney. He has it all. After the loss of his husband he is alone. His Father a judge asks Noah to take Shaun in. Once Noah meets Shaun he know he must do everything to help him. Can one mistake lead to a lifetime of love?
