The story: in disgrace after a catastrophic war, Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt and the Tanith First are sent to retrieve precious artefacts from a world lost to Chaos. With enemy all around them and time against them, Gaunt's Ghosts and their allies must prevent the holy relics of Saint Sabbat from falling into their foes' hands, and as mysterious events begin to occur, Gaunt begins to suspect that the Saint herself might be aiding them from beyond the grave.

The series picks up well from the excellent end of the initial "Founding" trilogy with a real introduction to the sabbatine cult and the "Saint" collection of the novels. enjoyed the performance although longworth seemed to alter the Gaunt voice which seems weird considering it's been consistent in earlier and much later books.

faith is a powerful weapon. Another strong entry into the ghost series. Gaunt and crew walk a very thin line as we yet again get to see the side of the of the imperium and the imperial faith that isn't covered with lies, greed and power.
