Well Written Account, great history.

A quick yet informative read regarding some of the most influential African Americans in the Civil Rights movement. Great insight into both their everyday lives, and their impact on human rights. Excellent for both adults and teens.

Valuable Material Covered by the author.

I posted four stars to it because the book possessed a lot of valuable material if you are looking for a quick read in regards to African American history throughout the years. However, I felt that the wording used within the book could have been better. Some instances I felt as though I was reading a college history paper written by my peers. With that being said, if you want a short book that covers African American history that makes it easier for a reader to understand - this should be good for you.

African American History, one the best book.

Everything that's discussed in this book from Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman and more I was able to get a better understanding of each experience. I know nothing beats first-hand knowledge to understand what the African American community went through completely but sometimes a good book is enough to feel empathetic.

This is a terrific book that helps to explain.....

This is a terrific book that helps to explain some of the most powerful African Americans in our history.. The chapter about Harriet Tubman is fantastic! I love the way the author tells us a true story of her life and her struggle. The chapters are broken up very well and I could see this being used as a text book in an African American history class. This writer has a firm grasp on his history and his writing is exquisite.

The book is well written.

I am an American and I needed to know more about the history of African Americans. It was really interesting to read about Rosa Parks, Malcom X (who was actually a gangster, who knew) and Martin Luther King.

Only commonly known facts.

This book was poorly written and didn't reach beyond commonly known facts. There were spelling and grammar mistakes throughout the book. Quotations were not properly cited. There is so much to learn about African-American history, but not from this book.

The book is only okay from me.

Well researched but reads like a high school or freshman college history report. The narrative is choppy. Facts are stated but not elaborated on. Interesting but I couldn't get past the sloppy style.
