Summary

A killer hides deep in the darkness…

DI Rob Marshall is stuck in Gartcosh, leading the new Behavioural Sciences Unit – a staff of one and a third – where he’s executing a fruitless hunt, profiling every single murder in Scotland just in case they’re serial cases.

But when a young Peebles woman’s body is discovered in Neidpath Tunnel, disused since the sixties, Marshall is called in to consult on a case on his old home turf. Paired up with his replacement, a cop who’s disinterested in the work, Marshall must tread a line between helping and not jumping to conclusions.

As the scope of the case wides, can Marshall find a killer who may have led many down his path of darkness? Or is Marshall on his own road to destruction?

I love these books and anything with Angus King as the narrator is a must to listen to.

All the local history and tunnel facts

I like this series, DCI Marshall is neither broken or arrogant, he is a thinker. The thing I like most is the journey of solving the case. The actual case or cases are the icing on the cake. Less of Elliot this time but I an looking forward to the next one.

A good team effort

Like a good story, then this is one of the best, as an avid follower of D.I. Rob Marshall novels I was impressed with this story, Murder, Corruption and intrigue. This is Ed James at his best, looking forward to more of his writing.

Overall brilliant

As always, Ed has managed to paint pictures in my head as I listen. it can be really difficult to sleep sometimes (thanks) but that's down to the brilliant narrative, structure and colour of the story.

Full of wit, pain and wisdom
