About this listen

Oxford, 1583. Giordano Bruno, a radical thinker fleeing the Inquisition, is sent undercover to Oxford to expose a Catholic conspiracy against Queen Elizabeth. But he has his own secret mission at the University, which must remain hidden at all costs.

When a series of hideous murders are committed, Bruno is compelled to investigate. What he finds makes it brutally clear that the Tudor throne itself is at stake....

What made the experience of listening to Heresy the most enjoyable?

Imagining living of the times, the narrator was really good, with accent to relive the character

What did you like best about this story?

The Plot, but the old flame turning up did not do the book any favours, hope the next book drops her altogether.

What does Laurence Kennedy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Brings to life of the times and tribulations, bought the character to life

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Same title as book

Any additional comments?

Well worth listening too, especially when eyes get tired.

Great Story

Why all the reviews focusing on CJ Sansom? I can’t think of a genre of novels that has all others compared to one author, not even fantasy and Tolkien. Overall I enjoyed what I heard, with only once feeling the author took a misstep, a scene where Bruno kissesSophia.

Unfair comparisons

I kept expecting Dr Bruno to refer to his 'little grey cells'. It was ok for a free read, and the narrator is pretty convincing, but I do have to say, I'm quite thick and don't possess the longest attention span, so I didn't know what was going on most of the time. Lots and lots of dialogue between characters I didn't really care about.

a 16th C (Italian) Poirot...

I like historical fiction and sj Parris has done a super job of bringing to life the giordano Bruno and the times he lived in.

A great story well read

I listened as hard as I could. It is a luscious story with the usual unguessable and satisfying ending.
