First of all like many other reviews mention the sex bits well I can do with out and it is abit cringe at times but its no unbearable.
Now the story itself is absolutely brilliant! Ive always been fascinated by the real world similarities between our ancient culture and this ties them all together so well. Definitely moving on to book 2.

life is too short to waste on this yarn American centric yarn. The whole thing is worse than bad.

The story is a solid idea that I expect would grow to a fantastic multi story opera. However I couldn't listen to more than an hour before giving up.
The narrator is fine but the constant horny male comments that are completely cringe. It seems that the author is so worked up that his only outlet is this novel. I am not a prude and quite like the occasional sexy bits but it is every single sentence! the main protagonist is looking a woman up and down with detailed commentary constantly, you feel seedy and want to punch the guy. anyway rant over but unfortunately its a no from me
