About this listen

Vowing to honour her dead father's memory, 23-year-old Wanda throws herself into the Polish resistance, risking her life to transport ammunition for the uprising against the Nazis.

But a clandestine meeting with an informant reveals a shocking twist. The man before her is the very soldier who took her father's life. Claiming to be a double agent, the informant sparks doubt, forcing Wanda to make a life-altering decision: trust the man she hates most in the world or jeopardize her network's crucial mission.

Will she change the tide of the war and prove her father's sacrifice was not in vain?

An unputdownable story of love, loss, and courage, fans of The Alice Network, The Nightingale and The Tattooist of Auschwitz will adore this utterly heartbreaking page-turner.

Born and raised in Poland, Gosia Nealon is a Gold Medal winner in the 2022 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY) for Europe-Best Regional Fiction.

Although slightly unbelievable in places, I actually really enjoyed this book. The story was fast paced and having two narrators really worked. I also liked the author’s style of writing. Shame the first book in this series isn’t on audible but I’ll definitely listen to the next one!
