About this listen
Thrust into a world where the rich, famous, and powerful hire him to solve their problems and wash their dirty laundry, Ravi finds himself in over his head with increasingly bizarre and complex cases - and the visions that he's been having of Hindu gods aren't helping. As Ravi struggles to stay ahead of danger, he wonders if the things he's seeing are a delusion - or if he might, in fact, be an unrecognised shaman of the modern world...

Critic reviews
Her Nightly Embrace introduces us to an exciting and dynamic new world of storytelling in which spirituality and science are inextricably entwined. Ravi is a character unlike any that readers have quite encountered before, and as he starts to see increasingly wild and fascinating visions, so will those lucky enough to dive into this rich narrative.
Tantimedh's episodic first novel, a trilogy launch, takes the reader on an exhilarating roller-coaster ride of unusual cases
Graphic novelist and screenwriter Tantimedh (La Muse) does an excellent job of shaping Ravi into a caustic yet empathetic observer of the chaos around him, and even the conceit that he sees Hindu gods...is handled organically and mostly subtly
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. There is a great diversity of characters in this book. There is lots of LGBTQ+ representation, a variety of races and backgrounds. That’s is nice to see, especially because it’s not a big deal and everyone carries on with life as normal. What other book might you compare Her Nightly Embrace to, and why?
This has hints of The Rivers if London by Ben Aaronovitch but with much more focus on the investigation and believing the answer is in our world rather a magical/spiritual/supernatural one. What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
It was a bit difficult to distinguish between characters at times. Ramamurthy doesn’t differentiate men and woman’s voices and does his one American accent for 5 different people - and that’s about all you get. It’s usually clear by context though so wait 5 seconds and you’ll catch up. Anyone not fully converted to audio might prefer to read a text edition though.Any additional comments?
I’m still unclear what role the gods serve. Maybe that’s the point! But I hope we see more of them in future books.Interesting
