A mysterious letter from Spain. A surprising new beginning...

Fall in love this summer with Her Last Promise, a gripping, heart-rending story of how hope can blossom in the ruins of tragedy and of the redeeming power of love. From number one best-selling author Kathryn Hughes.

Tara Richards was just a girl when she lost her mother. Years later, when Tara receives a letter from a London solicitor, its contents shake her to the core. Someone has left her a key to a safe deposit box.

In the box lies an object that will change everything Tara thought she knew and lead her on a journey to deepest Spain in search of the answers that have haunted her for 40 years.

Violet Skye regrets her decision to travel abroad leaving her young daughter behind. As the sun dips below the mountains, she reminds herself she is doing this for their future. Tonight, 4th June 1978, will be the start of a new life for them. This night will indeed change Violet's destiny, in the most unexpected of ways....

A WONDERFUL, WELL WRITTEN STORY WITH ENDEARING CHARACTERS.

Wonderful story read by a fantastic narrator. I loved the characters, and wanted to know what happened to them as I progressed through each chapter. This is a glorious tale of love, life, family & enduring hope. Yep, it’s fair to say, I found this book pretty special. Never read anything by this author before, but I’m looking forward to trying another. Isn’t it lovely when you discover a new author to add to your list of favourites.

Another wonderful novel by Kathryn Hughes

Beautiful story and relatable characters which were portrayed perfectly by Rachel Atkins. I always feel so sentimental when I read/listen to Kathryn's books and this one hasnt disappointed just as expected. The chapters flowed really well and the story kept me gripped right to the end. Can't wait for the next one now 😀

Gentle story of the lost years

I do like Kathryn Hughes books, she writes clearly concisely and there is no getting lost with her descriptions of all her colorful characters.

This is not her best book, but nevertheless still good.

It is set in 1978 and the modern day, moving back and forth with each chapter filling the gaps over the years.

She pulls in all the threads throughout and ties them neatly at the end. You can feel the emotions of each character as you follow them through the story.

Yes I would recommend as a lighter read.

Excellent story line - SUPERB narration!

I have never read Kathryn Hughes before and was delighted with this wonderful book.

Such a interesting tale ... and the narration by Rachel Atkins is absolutely brilliant! The handling of a dual-time line is extremely well constructed.

I will definitely be looking for books by both author and narrator to listen to in the future!
