I completely enjoyed this book on so many different levels. I am a clinical psychology major, and the author was completely on point in terms of cognitive behavioral changes that are necessary in order to make the necessary changes in our lives. There were so many different quotes in this book that were profound, I began to take notes and found myself writing almost every couple of minutes. Lol
One thing in particular the author noted is that we limit ourselves by our “ own beliefs and self sabotage”. As the author stated, it is very true that many people sabotage their own ideas and dreams even before they allow them to get started. Wow! The author was quick to point out that a lot of this conditioning happens in our formative years. However, we can shift from “self sabotage to self improvement” by following the six steps the author lists in this book.
One amazing quote the author states is “change requires monumental effort“. As the author illustrated examples through the eyes of two different women, he encourages everyone to take on the role of allowing our thoughts to overrule our circumstances and not vice versa. I particularly enjoyed the illustration of Barbara Corcoran, the real estate mogul who made up in her mind that she would change her life and her circumstances. Even though her first real estate venture failed, she grew to be one of the most influential real estate mogul‘s we know today, and she can be seen on the hit TV show, Shark Tank.
I also appreciated the author’s special sensitivity towards women, and what we go through in this area of feeling stuck. He acknowledges the societal, self and environmental pressures that are specially on us as a group, and he desires for us to break free from weighed down mindsets that keep us in emotional and physical bondage.
This book is amazing and I’ll use my hands and toes on this one and give it 4 thumbs up! 😀
