Wealth. Power. Murder. Magic. Alex Stern is back and the Ivy League is going straight to hell.
Galaxy 'Alex' Stern is determined to break Darlington out of hell - even if it endangers her future at Lethe and at Yale.
But Alex is playing with forces far beyond her control, and when faculty members begin to die off, she knows these aren't just accidents.
Something deadly is at work in New Haven, and if Alex is going to survive, she'll have to reckon with the monsters of her past and a darkness built into the university's very walls.
Thick with history and packed with Bardugo's signature twists, Hell Bent brings to life an intricate world full of magic, violence, and all too real monsters.

But there is no fundamental thought process given to how the Magic works, other books in this genre allow people to actually understand the magic so that characters can be innovative, in this book I feel like the Magic is all based on chosen one and wavy plot armour. Possibly this is because I’m a science guy, and this is clearly written as the magic of poetry, but it does feel like old words have power because they’re old, old objects have power because they’re old, rituals work because people in the past came up with them, and the rules change if the chosen one needs the rules to change.
The readers to reasonable performance, but they have a limited number of voices, everyone has the same American accent apart from the one foreign character who sounds more like a Russian stereotype then an Israeli American.
But like I say, it’s a fairly compelling plot so I will definitely be following the series in the future. Although I would like to have more focus put back on the houses, and for it to become a little bit more murder mystery like the first book. This one is definitely a different story to 9th House.
A good story but a little bit hand wavy

The narration was good, though I caught myself thinking I'd prefer the female voice to be more mature, closer to the one of Bardugo. It actually makes more sense the way it is, so ig it's just me.
Satisfyingly dark
