About this listen

Set in the dreamy backwoods of Oregon, Heartsong is a queer, paranormal romance of burning passion and pack loyalty. This is the third book in the Green Creek series.

All Robbie Fontaine ever wanted was a place to belong. After the death of his mother, he bounces around from pack to pack, forming temporary bonds to keep from turning feral. It’s enough – until he receives a summons from the wolf stronghold in Caswell, Maine.

Life as the trusted second to Michelle Hughes – the Alpha of all – and the cherished friend of a gentle old witch teaches Robbie what it means to be pack, to have a home.

But when a mission from Michelle sends Robbie into the field, he finds himself questioning where he belongs and everything he’s been told. Whispers of traitorous wolves and wild magic abound – but who are the traitors and who the betrayed?

More than anything, Robbie hungers for answers, because one of those alleged traitors is Kelly Bennett – the wolf who may be his mate.

The truth has a way of coming out. And when it does, everything will shatter.

Heartsong is the third book in TJ Klune's beloved Green Creek series. Continue the journey with Brothersong.

Critic reviews

Wolfsong is so well written that I'm in awe of TJ Klune's talent. The primary character, Ox, has huge feelings he can't articulate. But we know all of them, and we love him. The complex and startling world of Green Creek is the perfect setting (Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse series)
Beautiful, poetic, unbelievably compelling. ALL the stars (Juliette Cross, author of the Stay a Spell series on Wolfsong)
Fans will be delighted (Publishers Weekly)
An exciting start to the [Green Creek] series (Library Journal on Wolfsong)

I loved it. It is like being wrapped up in a big gay blanket. Simply perfect

(V. E. Schwab, author of the Shades of Magic series on The House in the Cerulean Sea)
The House in the Cerulean Sea is a modern fairy tale about learning your true nature and what you love and will protect. It’s a beautiful book (Charlaine Harris, author of Dead Until Dark)
A whimsical, warm-hearted fantasy that suggests it is never too late to make a positive change in life – or afterwards (The Guardian on Under the Whispering Door)
TJ Klune is doing powerful work that inspires and impresses. He is a gift to our troubled times, and his novels are a radiant treat to all who discover them (Locus Magazine on Under the Whispering Door)
These fantasy novels have it all: drama, romance, tragedy, and family. (Cosmopolitan.com on the Green Creek series)

The third book in the series and at times a big tough to stay with but it gets we and the pace picks up. Excited for the final book!

Really enjoyed the style of narration for this one.
Story was beautiful too , but that’s normal from T J Klune.

TJ Klune, what are you doing us!!!! I thought the first two were emotional but Heartsong took it to a whole new level. Robbie Fontaine is one of the best characters in this series and his relationship and love for Kelly Bennett is raw and real. Also there is one other reason I loved this book (personal) and I won’t say much but it has to do with a part of myself that I’ve recently come to terms with, and I want to thank TJ Klune for including and showing it in a positive and powerful light.

I can’t believe me and my partner are near the end of the series, but we can’t to wait to read Brothersong!!! ❤️🏳️‍🌈🐺🧙

A beautiful and heart wrenching story on belonging and love

Book 3 in the Green Creek series follows Robbie & Kelly, who we meet in the previous books. This series must be read in order as there is an overarching story running throughout. This review will contain as little reference to the actual story as possible so as not to spoil anything and mainly be the overall vibes I had/was left with.

This is my first 5⭐️ read of 2025. I read books one and two last year and adored them and this is no different. The journey these characters go on will put you through the wringer. The initial few chapters I thought we had gone back in time like we did at the start of the previous book and when I realised what was actually going on I was shocked and it's rare a book does that to me and I loved it.

Robbie & Kelly go through SO much in this book, as do the rest of the Bennet Pack and team human, there were times I was genuinely anxious to turn the page/carry on listening to see what was going to happen next. The connection all of these characters have are unlike anything I've read before, it feels tangible to me as I read/listen to these books. The found family vibes are STRONG and the overall story is so beautifully written with plenty of heartwarming and heartbreaking parts woven throughout. The plot outside of the romance moves at a good pace and there is enough action happening to keep the story moving forward. The ACE rep was done well and the very breif spicy scene was just right for these characters and this story. This book made my face leak at one point and I voice noted a friend expressing my anxiety about what was going to happen, its rare a book gives me that kind of visceral reaction and i love it when it happens. Kirt Graves was once again incredible in his perfomance, there is something about his delivery of the material that has it and the characters burrowing into my heart. I can't wait to see where the final book will take this story but I also don't want this series to be over yet either so I'm going to wait as long as my mood reading ass possibly can before diving into it. #packpackpack

"I wanted a pack who loved me. Who trusted me. Who never wanted to let me go. Who missed me when I was gone. Who thought about me and smiled. I wanted a home."

"I see you. For all that you are. For all that you're not. And I never want to lose sight of you again."

Loved it!
