Story
This is the age of addiction, a condition so epidemic, so all encompassing and ubiquitous, that unless you are fortunate enough to be an extreme case, you probably don't know that you have it. What unhealthy habits and attachments are holding your life together? Are you unconsciously dependent on food? Bad relationships? A job that doesn't fulfill you? Numb, constant perusal of your phone, looking for what? My qualification for writing this book is not that I am better than you, it's that I am worse.

Normally, when this disorder is diagnosed, they think that the life of that person is over. This myth has to be broken because there is no logical explanation.

Summary
Healing the Addicted Brain is a breakthrough work that focuses on treating drug and alcohol addiction as a biological disease - based on the Recovery Science program that has helped thousands of patients defeat their addictions. It combines the best behavioral addiction treatments with the latest scientific research into brain functions, providing tools and strategies designed to overcome the biological factors that cause addictive behavior along with proven treatments and medications.
Using this scientific approach, you will learn to conquer the physical factors that keep people tied to drug and alcohol addiction. The proven fact is that addiction is not a moral failing or an issue of not having enough willpower. It is a disease of the brain that can and must be treated like other chronic medical illnesses - such as diabetes, hypertension, or asthma - in order to defeat the disease.
This revolutionary program can triple the success rate of patients, from 20-30% to 90%.
There is hope. By understanding addiction and using 21st-century breakthroughs, for the first time drug and alcohol addiction can be, and will be, defeated.

Helps you understand what addicted person feels
I've gained a lot of insight on how addicted person feels like. Probably the most important information for me was that addicted brain is literally broken and it's not up to good will of addicted person to act appropriately. Also I like that there were many recommendations on how to handle certain emotions. I didn't like the fact that links to resources aren't valid. Unfortunately all this knowledge didn't help the person I wanted to help. Therapies and my attempts to explain and help aren't enough. Also medicines recommended in this book are really expensive in my country.

Warning: Bait & Switch, talks about God and AA
This book claims to provide a science-based approach to alcoholism (which is an outdated term in modern times, we use AUD or alcohol use disorder since a couple decades ago) and addiction recovery, but instead it preaches about God, AA and 12-step programs.
The first chapters do mention some recent developments such as Naltrexone, but the chapter on AA simply undoes any positive traits the book can offer. It certainly does mention God a lot for a book supposedly based by science? After I write this review I am contacting Audible to ask for my 1 credit back since I was mislead.
Furthermore, the author is CONSTANTLY advertising his website in the book, it would have been fine to mention the URL 3 or 4 times maybe, but I think I have counted 15 or 20 times so far, good grief, we get it.

Too much western medicine
The book is great but it relies too much on Western Medicine. There are almost no mentions of holistic/natural/alternative/herbal approach.
