Like many, I have been struggling with my weight lately. The cost of food has gone up, as has stress and anxiety. This book has opened my eyes to the ways gut health impacts more than just weight. I didn't need to make major changes to my diet or lifestyle to start seeing changes. The comprehensive list of foods to avoid was helpful. I just eliminated a few from my shopping list. Then, I started replacing those foods with more fibrous or fermented foods. I now get miso soup when eating at Japanese restaurant. I don't take the pickles off my burgers. Little changes are helping to reset my gut's microbiome.

The connection between the intestine and overall well-being is something I'd heard of but never fully understood prior to listening to this book. This guide does a great job of breaking down the science into layman’s terms.

The book goes over common health issues many face daily, like bloating, fatigue, and mood swings, and then links them back to gut health. It was surprising to learn just how many aspects of our daily lives are impacted by the state of our gut. The explanation of the gut-brain connection and the importance of the vagus nerve was interesting. The five steps to reset gut health are practical, and the guidance on foods to eat and avoid is super helpful.

As my partner and I embarked on the journey of improving her health and well-being together, this book became our guiding light. Chapter 2, "The Gut Microbiome," stood out for us. It provided valuable insights into the diverse world of gut bacteria and how it affects overall health. My partner and I realized that a healthy gut microbiome was vital for her well-being. We learned about the foods that promote a balanced gut, and we started incorporating them into our meals. Witnessing the transformation in her digestion and mood was a testament to the power of understanding and nurturing the gut microbiome. The narration was clear and engaging.

It proved to be very helpful for my partner
