Step into a world full of mystique, gods, and festivities, and bring their magic to empower your every day. The Norse culture, at its height, was a celebration of the people of Scandinavia and the British Isles, who practiced a religion as hardy as the lands they came from.

And within it were festivals—traditions born from the magic of nature—deeply woven into the fabric of Norse society.

You can channel this magic into your own life with the practice of Norse paganism. This book is your portal into the magic of Norse Pagan holidays and festivals, and it’ll take you by the hand into a world that is deeply entwined with the power of nature, with countless blessings of Norse gods and goddesses.

Inside this portal, you will discover:

  • A comprehensive guide to celebrating Norse paganism–explore the festivities of nature, people, and magic deeply rooted in Norse customs throughout the year
  • A quick guide to the months, days, and the cyclical nature of the Norse calendar (did you know that modern weekdays are named after Norse gods?)
  • The 12 days of Yule—discover why this enchanting festival marks the rebirth of the world (and how it is at the root of modern-day Christmas)
  • Everything you need to know about Blóts—enchanting rituals of reverence and sacrifice practiced by Scandinavian people to this day
  • How the Norse people celebrated the contributions of men and women equally through Bóndadagur and Konudagur
  • Why Midsummer was not a time of supernatural horrors (as pop culture might lead you to believe) but a celebration of fertility and nature’s bounty
  • Fascinating tales and enlightening facts, straight from the sagas and historical records of the Norse people
  • And much more!

Open a window in time to an era that was more in tune with the mystical magic of nature and bring it to your doorstep.

A good gift

This audiobook is a highly interesting handbook that explores the ancient rites and celebrations of the Norse culture. It reveals the profound relationship between the natural world, folklore, and spirituality. Furthermore, the author does a good job of taking the listener on a journey through the Norse calendar, including the amazing fact that many of our current weekdays are descended from the ancient Norse gods. This is a beautiful way to engage the audience.
In addition, not only is this an excellent present for the holidays, but it is also an excellent gift for anyone who is interested in learning more about how the Old Norse People celebrated holidays and is written very well. I highly recommend it.

Such a fun read!

For someone who didn’t know or understand anything about Norse Pages holidays and
Festivals. This was very interesting! The accent of the narrator would draw you in and want to hear more. My one complaint, which is really not a complaint is that I would love to have had more detail into the holidays, but for a beginner this is the absolute perfect amount. I would like to go back and follow up on some of the holidays and how they correspond with current holidays as well. Very fun to read that. I would highly recommend for you or as a gift highly recommend!

Perfect for pagans

As a Norse Pagan, this book was fantastic. It was a fun and informative venture into the wonderful holy holidays of the ancient religion, and it’s so nice that it’s so neatly presented in one volume.

Emma Karlsson is very passionate about Paganism and making it more accessible, and it shows in her writing. The prose are bursting with lyrical alliteration and the tone has an air of wonder and awe for the ancient culture. There are also precious few resources that bring gathered research on Old Norse holidays together like this, so it’s nice that Karlsson made this readable and accessible book for the modern-day Pagan.

Speaking of the research, I really appreciated that she included all the resources that she used at the end of the book. Most of them are articles or websites, but there seem to be multiple sources for each topic, which gives me the impression that this book is a more reliable than looking all this information up on the internet, even if only a bit in some cases. Because of this, it might not be a bad idea to take all the information here with a pinch of salt — doing your own research is never a bad idea, but the research presented here is very thorough regardless.

I wish there was a little more information about the author. Upon coming across Karlsson’s books, I was skeptical that it was an AI hoax, like some bulk books about mythology are (the Charles River books, for example). The author description and picture made it seem more legitimate, and actually reading the book dispelled those fears (mostly). If this was written by AI, or plagiarized from open-source websites, it would have needed a ton of human intervention and editing. So much so that I’m pretty sure it would be easier to just write it. There were a few weird editorial mistakes (the long and drawn-out title, interchanging “Freyr” and “Frey”, and the jumbled out-of-order summary in the afterward, for example) that keeps me just a bit skeptical, but those are likely just honest mistakes. But still, the author has no website or social media presence, and I would like to keep up with their work.

Fun and Interesting!

I have long been curious about Norse mythology, partly because Norse gods often show up in the crossword puzzle and also because Wagner’s Ring Cycle borrows several Norse gods. In this book, the author paints a vivid picture of Iceland’s past, introducing the Norse calendar followed by an engaging description of major Norse holidays. It is interesting to learn how these holidays were connected to the reality of life, culture, and gods of the time. It is also fun to see how some Norse traditions have been adapted and integrated into many of today’s familiar celebrations. The narration is perfect for the topic.

Learned a ton

I never knew the Norse Gods and pagan holidays were so entrenched in our modern world. Some of these older holidays like man's day and women's day need to be brought back! This was a quick listen and a great introduction to the old Norse gods and holidays. I look forward to learning more,

Loved This Book on Norse Pagan Holidays

Guide to Norse Pagan Holidays is a very interesting and very entertaining audiobook that takes you back in time into the world of Vikings and ancient Scandinavian culture. I really loved this book for multiple reasons. I enjoyed chapter 1 that covered the Norse calendar. I found it extremely interesting to learn about the ancient names of the seasons, months, and days of the week. It is really cool that some of our names today very closely resemble the ones thousands of years ago. I found it interesting how a lot of our Christian holidays today were adopted from the old Pagan holidays. The cherry on top of it all, is the narration of this book. Jake Urry has the perfect, and most captivating voice, for this book as he leads you through this amazing history lesson.

This audiobook is excellent

This audiobook is excellent for anyone who likes Norse history. I'm not a pagan, but I find Norse folklore interesting. It's fascinating to learn about how different holidays were marked in the past and how some have changed to become traditional ones today.

This audio discusses the Calendar and sets the scene for the next parts. I liked that there were some Yule recipes in it. I want to make some of the recipes.  Some of these holidays were new to me, so it was fun to learn about them.

Norse Festive Mystique!

This book instantly transported me to the captivating realms of Scandinavia and the British Isles, feeling the pulse of ancient traditions and rituals. The book offered more than a superficial glance; it showed me a deep understanding of Norse celebrations intricately tied to nature, from the rebirth of the 12 days of Yule to the awe-inspiring Blóts rituals. The insights into the cyclical Norse calendar were illuminating, especially discovering the origins of our modern weekdays' names! I particularly appreciated the emphasis on both Bóndadagur and Konudagur, celebrating the roles of men and women with equal reverence. Addressing Midsummer's true essence was a refreshing take, pulling away from the contemporary eerie interpretations. With tales, facts, and vivid details, this audiobook was a treasured compass guiding me to the heart of Norse festivities!
