very cute

I found myself absorbed by the audiobook. The narrator really helped you get a feel of the characters, and the mother/daughter interactions were fabulous. You see more of the various mysteries/events that seems to fall into the lives of both Flora and Darcy. I do feel that one of the plot points was a revisit to a prior story/occurrence, but was still different enough to make it its own. It was the perfect length for a cozy mystery and a great revisit to the series. Hope that there will be more future audiobooks of this duo.

Another good book

Another good book in the series. I did feel that it was a bit short, it could have been fleshed out a bit, but a good addition to the series.

Good Cozy Mystery!

Grave Heritage by Blanche Day Manos is the 4th book in the Darcy & Flora Cozy mystery series. I love how the author had written endearing characters, a story-line that is full of twists and turns, ands Mother Nature involved. This book is both part of a series and a standalone listen. Michelle Babb is wonderful at bringing the characters to life with her voice.. I really enjoyed this listen.

Grave goings on

This was a fun cozy mystery. With so much going on it is hard to choose what I liked best but I think it has to be the characters. They are so down to earth and it is easy to imagine curling up on a Sunday afternoon with my gran to watch it on tv because the books don't contain any sex scenes, violence or swearing, just perfect for a little adventure and with the characters continuing from one book to the next it is fun learning a little bit more about them each time or what happened to them after the previous book. Good to hear Ranger the dog was still around having said that each book is a stand alone so you don't need to have listened to the previous ones but it does help fill in the back ground.
After the earthquake a couple of months back it seems mother nature hasn't finished playing games with Darcy and her mother Flora it is during a storm that a strange comes banging on there door for help. But when he learns Flora's name he goes running back out into the night. Unsure what to make of it the ladies forget about him until Darcy stumbles over his body. Who is the stranger and why did he look so scared? It is only when a connection to a family friend is made that they can start to ask the right questions and with the family friends son missing they will have to wait to ask him and what about the food that is going missing? Is that connected? They don't have long to ponder this thought before they are welcoming a new priest to there church and letting him stay in there old home as there new house is ready. The new Priest is very different to.there old one which gets people talking bit when the man leading those questions is also found dead they begin to wonder if there really is more to the priest than meets the eye. To top it all off mother nature hasn't finished with them yet and the creek by there home starts to flood putting everybody's life in danger.
Every time Michelle Babb acts as the narrator the book gets a five star for the narrator's performance from me because I haven't listened to one of her books yet where she gives nothing but her very best and she has a way of making every one entertaining and exciting.

The longer I live, the more secrets I keep.

When her husband died, Darcy had moved back home to live with her mother and enjoy rest, peace and time to recover. Well, that didn't work. Instead, she was not only thrown into emotional confusion rediscovering feelings for the Marshall, her boyfriend before being romance by, and marrying, her much loved husband, but also murders and family secrets from the past have kept both her and her mother Flora involved in danger and discovery. Now, at last, they have moved into their newly built house outside of town, looking forward to countryside tranquility and the house warming party for their many friends and family. But it seems that even the weather is against them as a storm arrives with heavy rain which seems to go on for ever. And during the storm, someone knocks on their door. A stranger, but one who seems to know Flora by name and leaves just as suddenly as he arrived without giving his name. Next morning, the man's body is discovered outside the remains of a burning derelict building. Who is he? Who killed him? And it seems that, yet again, the son of Flora's best friend, Pat Harris, might well be involved.
This books in this series by Blanche Day Marcos are filled with interesting adventure and mystery and this one additionally continues with the background discoveries of the family past which combine to make an atmospheric story. But again, it is the delightful interaction between mother and daughter together with Darcy's internal consideration of all that is happening (the book is written from Darcy's perspective) which bind it together in a remarkably plausible way.

Good story, great characters and an excellent narrator: Michelle Babb further gives life to all of the protagonists and, in particular, Darcy and Flora. Her reading is a pleasure to hear and her voicings for the many protagonists is a good interpretation of each as well as being individually different.

These gentle thrillers still have bite even without fast, page turning action. They are gripping because the people are real, the stories well written and there is so much happening in that small town, from a long ago love, to murder, arson and a young woman trying to survive being thrown out by her father. And much more.
A good read.

Great little story

This was an intriguing mystery and a half, poor Jasper is in trouble after a stranger is found murdered, a new preacher arrives in town, but nothing is as it seems ... as usual ... Of course Darcy and Flora have it covered. Great little story. Just wish these books were longer.

Another Satisfying Venture into the Series

I've grown fond of Darcy and Flora over the series and I wasn't disappointed with this venture either! I really enjoyed this book and the series over all.

For such a small town those two women really do find trouble! But it's a wholesome journey with satisfying outcomes and a nicely unfolding story.

Michelle does a great job of taking us through it with the narration, bringing life and personality to each character - making it a thoroughly enjoyable listen!
