THE BOOK THAT DEFINES PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER
Who are you?
What have we done to each other?
These are the questions Nick Dunne finds himself asking on the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary, when his wife Amy suddenly disappears. The police suspect Nick. Amy's friends reveal that she was afraid of him, that she kept secrets from him. He swears it isn't true. A police examination of his computer shows strange searches. He says they weren't made by him. And then there are the persistent calls on his mobile phone. So what really did happen to Nick's beautiful wife?
'Flynn is a brilliantly accomplished psychological crime writer and this latest book is so dark, so twisted and so utterly compelling that it actually messes with your mind' DAILY MAIL
'A near-masterpiece. Flynn is an extraordinary writer who, with every sentence, makes words do things that other writers merely dream of' SOPHIE HANNAH, Sunday Express
'You think you're reading a good, conventional thriller and then it grows into a fascinating portrait of one averagely mismatched relationship...Nothing's as it seems - Flynn is a fabulous plotter, and a very sharp observer of modern life in the aftermath of the credit crunch' THE TIMES
'One of the most popular thrillers of the year is also one of the smartest... Flynn's book cleverly outpaces its neo-noir trappings and consistently surprises the reader.' FINANCIAL TIMES©2012 Gillian Flynn

It is wicked, contemporary and real. OK amazing Amy is far from a typical wife but her and husband point out some of the uncomfortable truths about modern relationships. I particularly enjoyed Amy's vitriolic essay on "cool girls" at the start of part 2.
It is a thrilling, thriller but that's not the point the book is really about relationships.
The language in every sense is dazzling and often shocking.
As to the ending it is perfect, chilling and both inevitable and not what you expect.
It's not a comfortable read but if you don't like cliches you may well enjoy this scintillating, engrossing book.
Love the language and the ending

What did you like best about Gone Girl? What did you like least?
I liked the original clever storylineI didn't like the abrupt, rushed ending
Would you be willing to try another book from Gillian Flynn? Why or why not?
Yes definately. She does have a good imagination. I'd like to see if all her endings are rushed. What does Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
I thought the narrators were brilliant. They were easy to listen to and never got annoying. They voiced the different characters really well so it was easy to distinguish between who was talking.Did Gone Girl inspire you to do anything?
To read more thrillers.Gone Girl was also my first audio book, it's inspired me to listen to more audio books.
Any additional comments?
I actually started off readin the book on my kindle. I got to about 25% and found myself struggling to read the book. I decided to download the audio book to listen to in the car and while doing chores and I found it so easy to listen to, and easy to take in the story. Not satisfied
