Summary

Susan MacDonald is desperate. Unless she makes a breakthrough soon, Ashford, the millionaire businessman financing her project, will shut it down and disband her research team. She knows she’s close - that she’s on the verge of proving her theory of Retrocausality, which will enable her to harness quantum mechanics to produce a revolutionary new form of instantaneous communication - but results are proving frustratingly elusive.

The last thing Susan needs is a team of ghost hunters moving into her base of operations, Ashford Hall - a building with a troubled past. Nor does she need the odd sounds - snatches of random conversation and even music - that are hampering her experiments; but does this interference represent the presence of "ghosts" as some claim, deliberate sabotage as suggested by others, or is there an even more sinister explanation?

Really good twist to a ghost story.

I am always in for a good ghost story. The way it's intertwined with the modern age is really done well. 5 stars from me and well worth a read. Narrator with the lovely accent worked well with the story.

Ghost story with a science twist.

Recently finished this, really enjoyable ghost story with a heavy science element. I would not want to spoil the twist but it was a really interesting take on ghosts, hauntings and how science may reconcile these.

Highly recommended.

Great Combination

Very enjoyable short story combining timey-wimey and spooky strands... Science and paranormal blended very cleverly, kept my interest all the way through, with a sneaky twist at the end!
Excellent performance.

An quick and interesting tale

I'm a fan of Gibson's novel-length fiction and this has been on my radar for a while. It's an interesting and engrossing story, blending the supernatural with science fiction very well, and with enough questions raised to keep you guessing through to the end. Also a fantastic performance by the narrator, Seylan Baxter.

A Great Surprise

Never judge a book by the cover or the publishers summary!
I am truest delighted with the story in this book!
I love ghost stories! The summary makes it seem like it’s mainly an scientific experiment.
It is not!
It’s far more in-depth.
Susan is doing her scientific experiments in this building she knows nothing about.
The building can’t keep guards or front desk people.
That’s all I’m going to say besides; “When is the next book coming out!!! I will be impatiently waiting for book!!

great ghost story that's not meant to be scary

What a great ghost story. A little science thrown in. Not meant to be scary. Like the variety in characters. neat twist thrown in.

A spooky story

A very interesting & spooky story. I felt bad for Susan being put in that situation. At least the mystery was solved. A great quick story.

Captivating

I enjoyed this book. It's well written and the narrator did a great job on the different characters. The story is intriguing and kept my interest. I was definitely trying to figure out what was really going on, and didn't' predict the outcome. This isn't really my favourite genre, but I still enjoyed the whole story, so that's a very good sign!

Short and sweet

Do ghosts really exist. Are they call her name?
Susan has much to learn.
