Story
Four short novels from the author of The Fireman and Horns. 'Rain' explores an escalating apocalyptic event, as downpours of nails spread out across the world. In 'Loaded', a mall security guard heroically stops a mass shooting, but his story begins to unravel, taking his sanity with it. Story
"Buy my stepfather's ghost, read the e-mail." So Jude did. He bought it, in the shape of the dead man's suit, delivered in a heart-shaped box, because he wanted it - because his fans ate up that kind of story. It was perfect for his collection: the genuine skulls and the bones, the real honest-to-God snuff movie, the occult books, and all the rest of the paraphernalia that goes along with his kind of hard/goth rock.

Something evil has swept into the small Maine town of Castle Rock on the heels of the latest winter storm. Sheriff Norris Ridgewick and his team are desperately searching for two missing girls, but time is running out to bring them home alive. In Washington, DC, 37-year-old Gwendy Peterson couldn't be more different from the self-conscious teenage girl who once spent a summer running up Castle Rock's Suicide Stairs. Summer. Massachusetts. An old Silver Wraith with a frightening history. A story about one serial killer and his lingering, unfinished business. Anyone could be next. We're going to Christmasland.... NOS4A2 is an old-fashioned horror novel in the best sense. Claustrophobic, gripping and terrifying, this is a story that will have you on the edge of the seat while you listen and leaving the lights on while you sleep.

Story
Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip - a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfre. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.

A bit boring, sadly.
I was looking forward to listening to this. Being an avid Stephen King fan, (well, certainly his earlier stuff anyway), I thought this would be interesting. Unfortunately, the stories weren’t scary and thrilling or even particularly eventful. I actually fell asleep listening to a couple of them. I guess if I had to pick any, “In the tall grass” wasn’t too bad and “You are released”, although the ending of the latter happened just as the story was getting interesting. The voice performances were pretty good, for the most part, although the voice of the kid in “The the Tall Grass”, was like fingernails down a blackboard, and not in a scary way. So, to sum up, it didn’t do it for me I’m afraid. I wanted scares but I got mostly snores.
