About this listen

The Yuki-onna, often depicted as a beautiful woman cloaked in a white kimono, emerges from the depths of Japanese folklore as a fascinating figure entwined with the themes of love and death. Her origins can be traced back to ancient Japan, where the harshness of winter and the mystique of the snow-covered landscape gave rise to tales that reflect the duality of nature. As a snow spirit yokai, she embodies both the beauty and peril of winter, captivating the hearts of those who dare to wander into her icy realm. The stories of the Yuki-onna vary widely across regions, each adding layers to her character and highlighting the cultural context of the time.

The narrator did a great job with this title and was very comfortable to listen to. The quality of production was very high and I have no complaints about their work.

However, the text was awfully repetitive and covered the same aspects multiple times throughout which was disheartening as the history of the Yuki-Onna sounded right up my alley and very promising for an audiobook title such as this. Instead it felt like I was largely being relayed the same information over and over with a few differences.

I received this title for free and leave this honest review.

A solid performance from the narrator but the writing was very repetitive
