Summary

Have you ever wondered...

  • What it's like on a daily basis to bet hundreds of thousands of dollars working for some of the largest professional gamblers in Las Vegas?
  • How to spend a summer house-sitting one of the biggest stars in the world's 11,000 square-foot mansion, without an invitation from its celebrity owner?
  • Whether the life of crime pays, specifically running a shoplifting ring in a middle-America mall?
  • What causes a son to finally say enough is enough and decide, "Today is the day I am going to kill my dad"?

Comedian Brandt Tobler has the answers in this funny, touching, and downright unbelievable memoir of a small-town Wyoming kid turned "Mall-fia" Don, turned nationally touring comic.

This book is written by a stand-up comedian that takes you through tragedy after tragedy on its path to hilarity. Will it make you laugh? Eventually. Will it make you cry? Probably. But the hope is that it will also make you smile, dream, and reflect, while simultaneously inspiring you to never stop chasing your dreams (even if your very own family is constantly trying to derail them).

Brandt tells his life story with candor, detailing the many pit stops, wrong turns, crazy connections, and lucky breaks he experienced along the way to his comedy career, all while trying to balance a toxic relationship with his jailbird dad. Brandt's storytelling will make you laugh (it better because that's his job!) and believe, as he does, that when it comes to defining family, blood isn't always thicker than water.

Brilliant

A well paced, interesting story. Really funny. It's quite an intricate story so you have to pay attention when listening. A couple of times I had to rewind by a minute or two when I got distracted but it's worth it because all the details matter, there isn't any filler here, it's all killer.

As Wyoming, as Wyoming can get.

MUST READ! Reading this book brought out all of the emotions in me. Sitting by myself it gave me laughter, anxiety, sadness, and true insight on how we sometimes take life too seriously. Thank you Brandt, what an incredible feat for you to not only have the courage, but the talent to write this book.

Beautifully Unpolished, Sweet, Fun, and Crazy

Brandt reads this book without the intent of sounding like a professional reader. It makes it more fun, conversational, and relatable. Heartwarming at times, crazy beyond comprehension at others, entertaining throughout. You wont not enjoy this.

A wild ride!

I really enjoyed the honesty and transparency Brandt has with his story. It is encouraging to hear that a whole slew of things can happen in life, but the most important thing is to keep going! Thanks Brandt!

All the great comedians are amazing storytellers..

and Brandt is one of them! This book made me laugh out loud and parts made me want to hug him like he was one of my own kids...

I can only hope that his dad dies soon!

It will change your life...if you let it.

Brandt Tobler took the blank pages given to him in the form of days on this earth and from them he has created a masterpiece. Think about the trepidation you have about small life decisions, look around at the caution used by everyone around you, and then reflect upon the pure freedom that spun up like a tornado out of the sleepy avenues of Cheyenne to become this wonderful tale. A true inspiration for those needing to keep going in the face of adversity.
