About this listen

'A writer of comic genius – he has something of Roald Dahl's magic, but more heart' – The Sunday Telegraph

The perfect crime - it's a work of art, in bestselling, award-winning Frank Cottrell Boyce's funny, touching story, Framed.

Dylan has accidentally been caught up in the crime of the century. Up until now he's been bored stiff, as the only boy living in the tiny Welsh town of Manod, with only his chickens for company.

Until one day, he spots a mysterious convoy of lorries heading straight for the disused mines. They're carrying a very precious cargo and when Dylan decides to investigate, he is quickly thrown headlong into the greatest art heist in history . . . probably.

A laugh-out-loud story about a very unlikely crime, shortlisted for the CILIP Carnegie medal and the Blue Peter Book Award.

What made the experience of listening to Framed the most enjoyable?

The narration is spot on. If I had to pick hairs then I would say that a Valleys accent is wrong for Snowdonia, but it's still done by a real Welshman so all the words like "Legend!" just work.

The details and characters have been so well written that everyone jumps out from the page.

What did you like best about this story?

We haven't finished it yet, but we love all the observation that's gone into it.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I loved the way Terrible Evans reacted in the cave (don't want to put any spoilers in here), and I love the description of Manod Wednesdays.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

You can't help but get involved with all the characters in the book. You feel all the highs and lows and excitement with the characters and in this respect it is particularly well written.

Any additional comments?

I'm listening to this with my 6 year old son. He's really enjoying it but will probably understand more of it in a year or so. One to grow into.

We've come to it via Frank Cottrell Boyce's sequel to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which is a very exciting listen.

We are loving this book

I specifically chose it for three reasons which were:
1/ I remember the narrator in This Life as Welsh Warren and liked his accent.
2/ I wanted a real Welsh accent.
3/ I was very pleased it is set in Wales as I am Welsh.
I would like it read in Welsh Language as well, please.

Beautiful Welsh accent - thanks Jason! Ace story.

This book was really good because it was set on a mountain, but maybe
at the end you could have said what Marie was doing with Max, and the flash in her room.😀😃🤔

totally amazing
