What happens if you meet the right person at the Wrong time?

Nell and Van meet as children when their parents fall in love, but soon they are forced worlds apart. Five years later, they find each other. Their bond is rekindled and new feelings take hold, but once again they have to separate. For the next two decades, fate brings Nell and Van together every five years, as life and circumstance continue to divide them. Will they ever find true happiness? And will it be together? ‘One day, maybe five years from now, you’ll look back and understand why this happened....’

the end was a bit protracted. I think the author was trying very hard not to make the end predictable.

asides from the end I found the story symmetric with the next generation almost about to live their lives like the previous two.

it's a good story, easy listen, lovable characters

Enjoyed the start and middle

This book has me gripped from a few pages in. Probably around “10” I started to get a feel for it and a love for the characters. It moves along at a decent pace every 5 years and it’s an interesting way to do things.
A lot of people have mentioned the narrator pronouncing things incorrectly, but that didn’t bother me too much. It was more that she rushed things sometimes and I was flung into a different scene too quickly. Otherwise, it was reasonably read.
The hate part of this book is the ending. I hated the ending. As soon as I could see it heading off in a different path I was very resistant. Otherwise, the book is great, all about how life takes twists and turns and we never know which path it will lead us down.

Loved This but Hated it Too

I will admit this is not my usual genre of book, I decided to give a try based on other reviews but I didn't really find it gripping. It is a love story and if that is what you like I think it would be enjoyable, it was just a bit lacking in detail for me and everyone in it was a bit too good to be true, no bad guys (or girls!) everyone really good looking, thoughtful, considerate of other people's feelings and honest which is not really like it is in my experience!! I know the West Country well as I live here so the mispronunciation of Porthleven to Porthleaven was quite irritating and a bit of a rookie mistake to make. Maybe the authors don't have any control over the narration. So I don't want to put anyone off that like this kind of feel good book as many obviously enjoyed it but for me it was a bit simplistic. Narrator was good though.

Narrator was good
