Summary

The best defense....

Starting a war with an enemy 100 times stronger is insane. It’s desperate. And it’s Earth’s only hope.

A massive alien power looms over humanity, claiming Earth as its territory and humanity as its slaves. The Hegemony has already taken over one colony, yoking hundreds of thousands under their brutal rule. Every tactical exercise, every war game, and every simulation gives humanity zero chance in a defensive campaign.

Earth’s only chance to win the coming war - is by striking first.

Ok, but nothing special.

The story is pretty generic, and the writing quality is ok but not excellent. Jeffrey Kafer is, as always, an excellent narrator, and his performance is really what kept me engaged. The universe was interesting, but it would have been nice to see a simpler plot with a greater focus on character development.

just ok

it is a little slow and bland. just jumps into the story with very little character building. I actually stopped a few minutes from the end because I got bored.

Unfortunately, sounds too familiar

this story borrows too much from similar stories without adding anything. I get it, there is only so much "unique" things you can add to military SF these days, but you can either have a some what unique story line, or unique technology. This book has neither. as such I just gave up after a few hours.

Good Space Opera and good character developement

Earth-locked humans get paid a visit by an alien bearing space gifts and an ominous warning, Genocide be afoot and you be its target ... PREPARE! What follows is a hurried development phase to create weapons to give Earth a chance and a battle plan that is so ludicrous it just might work! nah, who's kidding who? Very good character development along with the creation of various commands, most from a regular military command structure and one covert unit working behind the scenes. A good first book and looking forward to the follow-on episodes.

Love Positive Earth Sci Fi

The first Audible book I ever read was Ark Royal by this author. This book didn’t disappoint. Jeffrey Kafer can make the phone sound interesting but the story stands alone. Great read.

Great start!

This book was nonstop action! I loved it! There is a whole universe of possibilities here. The author has barely scratched the surface. I am definitely hoping for more!

great fun, but some plot holes.

Serious plot holes and logic flaws prevent five stars, but it was a fun ride.

Whats the hurry?

Both the author and the narrater stress to much. At times very shallow and compact storyline, while the narrator reads like he has a plane to catch.

Great book!

It’s my first book from Christopher and I love it. I really hope that he will make more books in this universe. And get some more stories about the immortal species. Jefferey makes another great job and if it weren’t for him I would not have read this book.
