About this listen

Overwhelmed by the neighborly attentions of the cheerful and vivacious “girl next door,” a man burned by love finds his passions reigniting in #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts’s First Impressions.

Entrepreneur Vance Banning took a residence in rural Maryland to escape business pressures—and relationships with women pursuing his bank account. To the community, he’s a moody, out-of-work carpenter with a chip on his shoulder. To next door neighbor Shane Abbott, he’s just a man who needs a little kindness in his life. Vance’s suspicions of the stunning beauty’s intense interest in him start to fade when he realizes Shane’s compassion is honest and joyful—giving his heart permission to experience true love.

The narrator did a good job on a mediocre love story. Nora Roberts early books are sweet romances that seem just to get into an interesting storyline and are going places and then pause for 5 minutes for a sex scene, before the story continues again. I'm not a prude but if you've read a Nora Roberts book it will have at least 4 sex scenes, and they are all basically the same if its a nice romance. If it's one of her newer ones with the a serial killer (how can you get bored with book after book after book about serial killers) then you may be grossed out. (I strongly advise people not to read Year 1, the non-stop SA made me feel sick.) I guess I'm basically saying this book is one of her average nice books, not one of her average serial killer books. it's mediocre though

an average love story

There really was very little thought into the character development of this book. He is burned by love, yet jumps straight into kissing her. On top of that, one scene borders on an attempt at r**e with her saying no multiple times and him just carting her off to bed (somehow she magically changed into thinking that was funny). This is the point at which I stopped the book as I felt it was too inappropriate.

Poor character development and trigger warning

The book is obviously an early work and therefore nothing special. But the narration is simply awful.
