About this listen

David Baldacci's First Family is the fourth gripping New York Times bestseller in the King and Maxwell series.

When she turned the page and her gaze flickered over the date on top it was as though the lightning outside had somehow grounded right into her. A billion volts of pain, a shriek of anguish you could actually see, and feel, as it pierced her.

Camp David, USA. A birthday party turns into a nightmare when a child is snatched after the celebrations.

The First Lady enlists the services of Sean King and Michelle Maxwell to bring the child home safely. But she and King share a past. Years ago he saved her then senator husband from political disaster. And this may not be all that passed between them.

With Michelle still battling her own demons, the two are pushed to the limit, with forces aligned on all sides against them – and the line between friend and foe impossible to define . . . or defend.

David Baldacci's smash-hit series continues with The Sixth Man and King and Maxwell.

Critic reviews

Plenty of action drives Baldacci's stellar fourth novel to feature Maxwell and King.
Mr. Baldacci's books are jigsaw puzzles of intersecting events, not simple whodunits. First Family is no exception.
What Baldacci does best is provide thrills, chills, and suspense. This novel is a total surprise from beginning to end.

This was a really good listen. Perhaps not His best , but definitely worth buying. I meant to read a chapter or two to begin with but after twenty three chapters managed to put the light out. That's what I call gripping!

Gripping

I have enjoyed many David Baldacci audio books but I'm finding the music and sound effects annoying and unnecessary and they are distracting me from the story. Also I'm not overly keen on this narrator but I will battle on and hopefully Baldacci's yarn spinning will make up for it in the longrun.

Annoying music and sound effects

Once again Baldacci has written a rocking and rolling Shaun and Michelle story. Fictional yes,but.....!

Team King and Maxwell are winners

Well crafted storyline with enough action and unanswered questions to keep my attention throughout. I like the way Baldacci doesn't waste words on pointless descriptive pieces that don't really go anywhere. He doesn't 'showboat' either.

Great for this genre

Intriguing, didnt know how it was panning out, kept me wondering almost to the end.
