About this listen

Have you ever heard of the old Celtic legends of the Fae - beautiful, magical, deadly, and a love of messing with humans just for kicks and giggles?

Welcome to my world.

What started out as a strange assignment leads to one of the most gruesome murder mysteries of our time, and my friends and I are set and determined to find out who is killing off Fae and Witches alike.

Couple of problems in the way - I hate the Fae, and the Prince of the Dark Fae is bound and determined that I work for him. He’s a rude, overbearing, egotistical ass with a compulsive need to possess, dominate, and control me. Oh - did I mention that he is absolutely sex-on-a-stick gorgeous and he makes me feel things that I never ever wanted to feel for a Fae.... Every time he touches me or looks at me with those golden eyes, he seems to pull me further in under his spell, despite my better judgment.

My friends and I can’t trust anyone, and nothing is as it seems on the surface - not even me.

Warning: Mature content and language not intended for anyone under the age of 18.

This audiobook is not intended for anyone under the age of 18, or anyone who doesn't like lip biting, throw-your-ass-on-the-bed, tear-your-clothes-off-and-leave-you-panting dominant alpha male characters. This is a dark, dangerous, intense, gritty, and raw audiobook. Scenes are dark, disturbing, and scorching-hot. This is a soul-crushing, tear-jerking, and leave-you-hanging-on-the-edge-of-your-seat fast-paced audiobook. Side effects may include, but are not limited to: drooling, lip biting, wet panties, crying, and screaming at the author. If any of these things happen, do not seek medical attention - get the next book in the series and enjoy the ride!

This was a very enjoyable, stimulating, fun, unput downable, 5* book. The female narrater was fantastic but the male narrater was not needed as I felt he wasn't involved enough & made the descriptive dialogue sound just plain disgustingly filthy rather than enjoyable erotica especially as most of his lines were p**sy this pu**y that & I personally feel that if he had more narrative it might have helped as he had a beautiful deep manly voice but his dialogue wasn't fulfilling enough. Can't wait to enjoy book 2.

Overall: I enjoyed it and finished the almost 13 hours in 3 days. I'm going to go get the next book now.

Story: A good story that does end on a cliffhanger. Decent worldbuilding and various interesting situations that the characters end up in while attempting to solve the main problem. There are some gory, sad, and violent scenes, so this isn't a 'feel-good' romance but is closer to a fantasy novel. There is a decent level of good steam without the steam being more important than the actual story.

Characters: The main character (Synthia) has an actual backstory that influences her decisions and there is character development in this paranormal romance! (WOOHOO!) Synthia is one of those 'tortured' heroines and is rather likeable. She doesn't need rescuing. Ryder is someone who you can't decide if you want to hate or love. There are quite a few unanswered questions about their backstories even when the book ends.

Narrators: As usual, I really enjoy Sarah Puckett. I actually chose this audiobook partly because it was just Sarah Puckett who was the main female narrator. Stephen Dexter was better than usual; he spoke at a decent speed and mostly only had to keep track of one character. Sarah Puckett could have done the entire audiobook and it would likely have been better and more consistent.

I absolutely love the legacy of the 9 realms, so I thought I would like this series just as well. Unfortunately, not so much. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but not great.
The beginning felt like a mission impossible kind of action story, but it quickly became a key nd of murder mystery, fantasy with a enemies to lovers and super slow burn romance.
It ends on a cliffhanger and there are tons of secrets still to uncover.
Check trigger warnings as it deals with a few heavy subjects.
Free book and audio 1/2off.

A bit repetitive but really good
