El lonely planet de la historia dominicana

Como turista en la República Dominicana es fácil pensar que la media isla es un paraíso. Este libro levanta la cortina para revelar el trauma de una dictadura atroz, que continúa marcando a la vida de todas las generaciones siguientes ya casi un siglo y hasta en la diáspora. Escrita de forma mucho más llevadera que la Fiesta del Chivo, me hizo querer a tantos de sus personajes, con todas sus fallas, idiosincrasias y locuras. Como todo en Dominicana, va de emociones tan fuertes que le ciegan a uno: miedo, amor, esperanza, furia, amor, indignación, "pobreza inconcebible", pasión, lealtad, amor, ansias, soberbia, amor. Siempre amor.
