About this listen

More than just a slogan on a t-shirt, feminism is a radical tool for fighting back against structural violence and injustice. Feminism, Interrupted is a bold call to seize feminism back from the cultural gatekeepers and return it to its radical roots.

Lola Olufemi explores state violence against women, the fight for reproductive justice, transmisogyny, gendered Islamophobia, and solidarity with global struggles, showing that the fight for gendered liberation can change the world for everybody when we refuse to think of it solely as women's work. Including testimonials from Sisters Uncut, migrant groups working for reproductive justice, prison abolitionists, and activists involved in the international fight for Kurdish and Palestinian rights, Olufemi emphasises the link between feminism and grassroots organising.

Reclaiming feminism from the clutches of the consumerist, neoliberal model, Feminism, Interrupted shows that when "feminist" is more than a label, it holds the potential for radical transformative work.

This is a brilliant work, patiently explaining and filling the gaps that your second and third wave feminism may have left.

The narrator has a lovely and soothing voice but the performance is nonetheless too one-note. I found myself having to rewind parts because my brain had switched off listening to her. She’d be perfect for restful sleep aid (I don’t mean that as a joke about her being boring! - it’s just that the words in this book need a bit more snap and challenge.)

21st century feminism seeks liberation for all

The distracting bit was the performance. Great voice but sound quality changed throughout - as if some parts edited in or microphone changed.

Interesting and important

Brilliant book on intersectional feminism- made me understand how race, class and gender are related and opened my eyes to sex work. Very accessible and engaging for me who had read little feminist theory before hand. this book changed me.

Cannot recommend this enough

I came across this title by chance and it did not disappoint. It has certainly reignited my passion for feminist movement.

An absolute must

Well written and researched. Link the central role of black women as thoerists and activists in the struggle for liberation.
