Judy, a beautiful liver and white English pointer, and the only animal POW of WWII, truly was a dog in a million. Whether she was dragging men to safety from the wreckage of a torpedoed ship, scavenging food to help feed the starving inmates of a hellish Japanese POW camp, or by her presence alone bringing inspiration and hope to men living through the 20th century's darkest days, she was cherished and adored by the British, Australian, American and other Allied servicemen who fought to survive alongside her.

Story
The Cornish Scoop is a novel, but I’ll be totally honest, there’s very little I’ve had to imagine, as I have experienced the majority of the content in this book in my career as a police officer. Treavey is a Cornish police officer who is just out of his probation in 1994 and making it alone in the big wide world of policing. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this very much reflects the time and locations of my own policing experience, so I will leave it up to you which parts are made up and which are true. Remember that life tends to be stranger than fiction!

Story
One winter's afternoon, Stephen Foster walks into a dog re-homing center with the intention of picking up a retired greyhound. Instead, he acquires an abandoned lurcher pup. Foster's knowledge of dogs is so vague that he has to look up 'lurcher' in key reference work The Giant Book of the Dog, to find out what sort of animal is coming to join the family. His research counts for little: the new arrival does not conform to any known breed standard, or indeed any standard whatsoever that might be considered dog-normal.

Summary
The Top 10 Best Seller: The Inspirational Life of Finn, Britain's Bravest Dog, Winner of the 2017 Daily Mirror Animal Hero of the Year Award
Hertfordshire, October 5th 2016. At around two a.m., PC Dave Wardell and his dog, PD Finn, were trying to apprehend a robbery suspect when he turned around and attacked them. Finn was stabbed with a 10-inch-bladed knife, both through his chest, via his armpit, and then - the knife bound for Dave - through the top of his head. Finn no doubt saved Dave's life, but the race was on to try to save Finn's.
Dave Wardell's heartfelt memoir charts an incredible journey of friendship and loyalty. It is a celebration of the bond between one man and his dog, from when Dave collected Finn from his kennels at just nine months old, all the way through to Finn's recent and hard-earned retirement. The book charts the career of a highly trained, highly decorated dog. In his time on the job Finn tracked offenders of all kinds; found missing children; tackled armed offenders; saved lives. But Finn isn't just a police dog - he's also a cherished family pet, and this is his remarkable, life-affirming story.

Great story. Narrator 'okay' but not great.
Loved the story, I didn't want it to end.
The narrator was 'okay' but not particularly well cast. It would have been much better narrated by Dave Wardell or someone with a similar way of speaking. The narration was too soft and without the variety that Dave (or someone else) would have brought.
It was easy to listen to though and I would buy it again.
