Summary

They fled through the city, away from the school, racing in desperation towards an uncertain future.

At every step, they battled the ravenous creatures of the night.

Well done

This is a follow up on the Wilderness, and I’m already awaiting the third book, as the writing and story building continues to be well done. It’s a short (what I would class as YA) horror fantasy set in a post apocalyptic world after an event changed most of the humanity, and where only a small group of teens have survived. This is what we know so far but perhaps larger groups exist in this world too. I’ve learned more about the characters, and I’ve glimpsed into some of their back stories. There is definitely something odd going on with some of the characters and I’d like to find out what it is exactly that is happening to the world the author has created. I’m hoping that the third book will come out soon. Thank you.

Excellent sequel

A great sequel, the dwindling group of teens are now on the run, heading for the military base, battling evolving enemies and with a member who has been bitten. The story is great, the writing tense, emotional and involving, the characters excellent, a good mix all with their secrets. I am impressed by the world James as created and like the evolving of the creatures. Kerr Lordygam does a fine job of narration with a good range and giving the story an excellent emotion. I received a complimentary copy of the audio book and am leaving a honest voluntary review
