Summary

If you're thinking, 'Jess, who?' then I'm glad that there was something about 'everywoman' and 'truth' that caught your eye. Or you might already know me as that gobby MP who has a tendency to shout about the stuff I care about. Because I'm a woman with a cause, I have been called a feminazi witch and a murderer and threatened with rape. The Internet attracts a classy crowd. So, speaking the truth isn't always easy, but I believe it's worth it. And I want you to believe it, too. The truth can be empowering, the truth can lead to greater equality, and the world would be incredibly boring if we let all of those people who allegedly know everything, say everything. By demanding to be heard, by dealing with our imposter syndrome, by being cheerleaders, doers not sayers, creating our own networks and by daring to believe that we can make a difference, we can. We're women and we're kick-ass. And that's the truth.

Decent book, but why the Corbyn hate?

This book gave me a good insight into why it is difficult for women to get into politics. I enjoyed hearing about the author's own experiences. She explains her experience of trolling, sexism within parliament, solidarity between female politicians and her views on all female shortlists. I did feel like all of this could have been said in fewer words though. She also hinted at some anti-Corbyn sentiments but these were not well-explained or justified, much more information would be needed to persuade me against Corbyn. So in all, a decent book but her lack of support for Corbyn puts me off recommending.

She's bloody brilliant!

I found this audiobook highly interesting, insightful and motivating. I felt like I was in the brain of a totally unapologetic, down to earth HUMAN WOMAN who is so real it hurts. I've found myself re-listening to chapters here and there for a confidence boost and a gentle reminder to trust in myself, my opinions and my capabilities. Just what every woman needs. Thanks Jess!

Why bother ...

- the woman clearly thinks she knows it all - what could the rest of us mere mortal women that have walked the walk know - this is her experience not mine - it’s preachy and narcissist in my opinion and someone really should tell her we all have one we just don’t all choose to drone on about it - most of us are too busy to be navel gazing

Thank you! You are a real inspiration!

I took the audiobook running and it's been a delight. Almost sad I finished it. An update with to reflect the last 2 years of politics as a bonus would be so good. 😁

Funny, warm and engaging.

Funny, warm and engaging. An extra push to keep speaking up and to support intelligent policies on domestic abuse. An insight into women in parliament and the best way to deal with trolls.
