Summary
El Cocodrilo, publicado por primera vez en 1865, narra la extraordinaria historia de Iván Matveich, un funcionario público que en su visita a un parque de diversiones es devorado por un cocodrilo, frente a la mirada atónita de su mujer y de su mejor amigo.
Sin embargo, el funcionario no muere, muy por el contrario, se instala cómodamente en el interior de la bestia y desde allí inicia una serie de conversaciones y discursos que dan cuenta de su torpeza, oportunismo y codicia.
El Cocodrilo fue incluido en La Biblioteca de Babel, una colección de lecturas fantásticas dirigida por el escritor argentino Jorge Luis Borges.
