Summary

Jahrzehnte zuvor hatten sich in dieser Gegend dramatische Szenen abgespielt: Ein Trupp englischer Besatzungssoldaten geriet auf einem Höhenpfad in ein Unwetter, und nur wenige fanden unter großen Strapazen den Weg zurück in bewohnte Gebiete, viele kamen um. In derselben Nacht verschwand eine junge Frau, deren Leiche aber nie gefunden wurde. Das Schicksal dieser Frau zieht Erlendur in seinen Bann, und er will unbedingt diesen Fall aus der Vergangenheit aufklären, so schmerzlich es für ihn auch sein mag, Ereignisse aus dieser Zeit ans Licht zu bringen...
