Summary

Enter a world very close to our own...

One in which technology can allow you to explore an alternate love-life with a stranger.
A world where you can experience the emotions of another person through a chip implanted in your brain.

And one where you can view snippets of a distant relative's life with a little help from your DNA.

But remember: these experiences will not be without consequences . . .

In this stunning debut collection, Kelechi Okafor combines the ancient and the ultramodern to explore tales of contemporary Black womanhood, asking questions about the way we live now and offering a glimpse into our near future. Uplifting, thought-provoking, sometimes chilling, these are tales rooted in the recognisable, but not limited by the boundaries of our current reality-where truth can meet imagination and spirituality in unexpected ways. Allow yourself to be taken on a journey into worlds that are blazing with possibility, through stories that will lead you right up to the Edge of Here . . .

Deep Thinking

I would have loved to give this book 5 stars, but there was just something that didn't make it perfect.
Each story was good, the thought that went to them was great. Retelling them to a friend would come across as warm and thought provoking and of course highlighting the talents and power of women.
But this where it didnt jell for me, I didn't feel I was told the stories with enough passion.
I do still recommend the book, maybe its me that feels the need for more substance in the story telling of empowerment and realisation.

Such a talented writer! A great piece of work

A great collection of short stories. Very cleverly written. Made me chuckle many times. What a treat it was to hear Kelechi reading it and taking on different personas. Kelechi is the gift that keeps on giving! This is the book we all needed x

Exquisite and highly enjoyable. 10/10 😊

I listened to this book in two days and was engrossed in every story from beginning to end. The stories are amazingly visual and entertaining and I could see each scene in my minds eye so clearly. (I can’t wait to watch on a massive streaming platform soon. ✨✨🙏🏿😉✨✨) Every line was enjoyable and the endings left me wanting more in all the best ways. Especially “Blue” and “Broom”. I was seething at the end of “Blue” lol. I need more story pleaseeeeee!!!! I can’t wait to listen again. Kelechi’s mix of spiritual and metaphysical knowledge, social and race knowledge, and tech knowledge blended together wonderfully. Truly an AMAZING first book. I will be recommending this to anyone who asks for something entertaining and soothing to read. 💚💚💚💚 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND 💚💚💚💚 CONGRATULATIONS KELECHI ✨✨✨✨✨✨💚💚💚💚. Thank you for this offering to the world. 🤍 - Michael Rhodes

This book is gorgeous- a soul hug

This collection of short stories is simply incredible. I’ve never experienced reading/listening to a book where it feels like each story is tending to a different part of my soul. Thank you Kelechi for writing it. As sad as I am that I have finished it, I’m going to jump back in and have another go round because this book is timeless ✨💚

Thought provoking

The stories had just enough for you to continue to wonder what happened next but not dwell as the next story was just as thought provoking as the last. Great read!
