Editor reviews

Ed Koch probably did not need an introduction to the Upper East Side audience that enthusiastically greeted him in 2007, but he still received a fine one from moderator Joe Berger. Koch was the outspoken mayor of New York City for three terms and he always identified proudly as Jewish. In this 92nd Street Y program, Berger asks the late Democrat about his political career and the general situation of Jews in politics. Koch's trademark raspy voice declares, "We are living in the golden age for Jews in America." Listeners may want to skip the first four minutes of audio, which contain in-house announcements and calendar listings.

Summary

The funny, irreverent, and always original Ed Koch discusses New York news and his own identity as a Jewish New Yorker and politician. Koch was mayor of New York for three terms, from 1978 to 1989. He is a partner in the law firm Bryan Cave, LLP, and hosts a call-in program on Bloomberg Radio. New York Times reporter Joseph Berger interviews him.
