I loved this audible book so much that I bought hard copies for others and me. It is an extraordinary story of one man’s quest to tell the story of a momentous period in Ancient Britain by treading in the footsteps of those who were there. It’s a masterpiece.

This is an excellent book. It mixes history, travel and personal reminiscences in an attractive and engrossing way. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and recommend it strongly to anyone with an interest in early British history.

I loved this book. Roman era is my favourite subject in history to read and the Boudiccan war I fascinating. If only we could find the last battlefield location with all our technology and resources. Well done Duncan Mackay.
