Summary

Gotrek and Felix Audiobook 4.

A journey back to civilisation is interrupted when Gotrek, Felix and their companions encounter a creature of myth – a legendary dragon! Caught between that flying rock and the hard place of an army of orcs, things look bleak....

Listen to it because

It's Gotrek and Felix vs a dragon, in one of the series most widely acclaimed entries. A dangerous race against time, multiple enemies and uneasy allies make this a true classic.

The story

Gotrek and Felix: unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than common thieves and murderers? The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between, and depends entirely upon whom you ask.

Gotrek and Felix head back towards the Empire aboard the arcane dwarf airship Spirit of Grungni. Tired and wounded from their adventures in the Chaos Wastes, the intrepid duo look forward to seeing friendly lands once more. But darker forces are at work and when a violent storm blows them into the Worlds Edge Mountains they disturb a deadly creature of legend which guards a vast golden hoard. With an army of rampaging orcs behind and a wrathful dragon ahead, things look bleak for Gotrek and Felix!

Dragon`s Baine or Felix`s ego. Enchanted indeed.

A great story of the adventures of the un-lightly pair, Dwarf and human battle a serpent of legend. Not to mention their own legendary differences. Masterfully delivered by the narrator.

Ending a bit rushed

I expected more from the fight with the dragon. When they first encounter it he proved to be sentient as we got a few panels from his pov. In the final encounter he is just reduced to a mindless beast. We never got an answer about how he got malformed by chaos and who did it. Besides this, which bothered me quite a bit, it was good.

The best Gotrek and Felix novel so far!

I absolutely loved this story. Wonderful characters all brought to life by Jonathan Keeble, who is fast becoming my favourite male narrator. Jonathan even throws in a pitch perfect impression of Billy Connolly to bring the dwarf engineer Malakai to life. meanwhile we have love triangles, orcs, bandits and even grey seer Thanquol liven things up. This a treat from start to finish.

A joy to listen to - Truly the best fantasy series

The quality of the narration is key here, so many great fantasy books are poorly voice acted. The quality of the writing in combination with the voice acting make the story come to life.

Better and Better

Each new book in this series just gets better and in this one funnier, there is such a choice of characters that it’s almost difficult to choose who you want to be the hero (Felix) but with greyseer thanquol and a sex mad dwarf in the mix it does make choosing hard, brilliant book superbly narrated as always
