This is one of two separate sequels to Dragons and Princesses: a coming-of-age story.
Merissa is a 15-year-old Dragonkin princess. Her dragon relatives want to take her away from all she knows and loves. She is forced to make a choice between accepting a new way of life or railing against fate in a desperate bid to win her freedom. In this book, she decides to go with her dragon relatives. Part of it is because she believes it would be foolish to try to run away, but she is also curious about her heritage. Being forced to leave her loved ones behind takes its toll on her eventually, and she struggles through her depression, hoping for a better future.
