About this listen

Doors & Windows is a follow-up novella to A Series of Rooms and is not intended to be listened to as a standalone.

In a new city, free from the circumstances that tried to keep them apart, Liam Cassidy and Jonah Prince finally have a chance to kindle the love that has blossomed between them-this time on even footing.

Liam has always dreamed of a bigger, brighter life. Now he has everything he needs to build one: new friends, a college in his dream city, and Jonah Prince only a subway ride away.

Out of the grasp of the people who hurt him, Jonah has been given a second chance at life-and love. He only wants to prove himself worthy of it. But scars don't fade overnight, and some baggage can't be dropped at the door.

Set between the final chapter & the epilogue of A Series of Rooms, this is the story of Liam & Jonah taking their first unsteady steps into a relationship they can call by name.

If you've read A Series of Rooms, this is the most perfect addition of development in Liam and Jonah before the epilogue. It handles the early stages of trauma and mental health respectfully, realistically and in a way that sparks hope. I loved how intimate they felt together whilst still taking the small steps they needed.

My only critique is that I would have liked the same care to be considered for Jonah's physical health. Given the events of the first book (spoilers ahead), especially his injuries at the end, it's not likely he would have a lot more muscle built and able to work in this field already—particularly with his chronic malnutrition as well. I think this kind of development feels more realistic to come later, or to only be in the earlier stages, where he's been building up a healthy weight and is receiving medical advice on the potential long term effects of such severe strangulation which nearly killed him.

Other than this, I found this book to be a wonderful addition and fills some much needed closure. I rooted for this couple so deeply!

Beautiful Novella

Lovely following Jonah & Liam’s story in New York. I really love these two characters 🫶🏼. Excellent narration again.

A lovely addition to their story

I’m absolutely happy to spend a credit on under four hours of audio when it’s a self-published author—especially when it’s as lovely as this.
This won’t mean much if you haven’t read the first book, but if you have, it’s such a pleasure to get a glimpse of what comes next. Rather than a silly “everything is perfect” happily-ever-after, this novella gives us something far more satisfying: hard-fought intimacy and freely given love. That’s what makes it so special.
The narration is excellent, and I’ll be listening to both books again and again. In the end, I’ll get far more pleasure from them than their runtime suggests.

Worth the credit, a lovely follow up
