Theres something immensely enjoyable about all the characters being utterly irredeemable, and yet having their own charm because of that. It's a nice twist to see the inner circle of menzoberranzan in all its political intrigue

The book is the first in a series, and takes a lot of time to build up characters, the culture and customs of Menzoberranzan. This is not easy to follow at first ,and so the book becomes hard to digest. However, once you have a good feel for the characters and reach the end of the book you realise that you will now set out in an adventure with these entirely insufferable drow and I look forward to it!

It is well read, and does justice to the dark atmosphere of Menzoberranzan.
