An baldige Rettung ist nicht zu denken, und die Jungen, allen voran Doniphan, Gordon und Briant und der Schiffsjunge Dick, der als einziger etwas von Seefahrt versteht, müssen sich nicht nur gegen äußere Widrigkeiten, sondern auch gegen ihre eigene Natur zur Wehr setzen. Einer der besten Jules-Verne-Romane, der den Vergleich mit dem echten Robinson aushält.
