Summary

Ollie:

Word of advice: Don't come out to random guys in public restrooms. Even if they're charming and adorably nerdy and offer to help.

My family believes I can't be happy if I'm not out to the world. I have a bitter ex-boyfriend and an unstable NHL career to show for it. A fake boyfriend seems like an easy and quick solution to get my family off my back, and this guy is volunteering. I take him up on it without asking his name.

I really should've asked for his name.

Lennon:

Word of advice: Learn how to introduce yourself properly. In my defense, I don't recognize Ollie Strömberg right away. I cover football, not hockey. I'm not supposed to see him again, and he's never supposed to find out I'm a reporter. That all changes when my editor reassigns me.

It's a lesson I should've learned by now. Nothing's changed since high school. Jocks still hate nerds. But even worse, athletes hate journalists. Especially ones who know their secret.

Contains mature themes.

Love this book

The narrators were great, they brought the whole story to life, with real laugh out loud moments. I have heard it a few times now and still love it.

I loved this.

It is over the top but that seems appropriate for the story. It really cheers me up that I found a book plus audio that I unreservedly enjoyed.

All the Sexy Hockey Goodness!

I LOVED this book, so when the audio came up for pre-order, I was all over it! This narration duo has done an amazing job with this series to date, so I knew it was going to be good! First, this story has so many of my favorite tropes: Fake boyfriend, athlete (hello hockey god), the nerdy guy and a coming out story. I really loved this book and and the audio really brought Ollie and Lennon to life for me. It’s funny, I legit snorted in parts, and it’s sexy and SO hot. It’s one of those stories you want to hurry up and finish so you can see how it ends, but you want to savor it too because it’s amazing and you don’t want it to end! I loved the subtle tie-ins from other stories as well! This author always leaves me wanting for more of her writing and I cannot wait for Talon and Miller’s story. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long for the next audio with their story, Blindsided! I’m so glad we don’t have to leave these wonderful characters behind yet!

Well written and very entertaining!

I really enjoyed the coming out story of the main character, the hockey stud. Very relatable and very well written with a nice twist in the end with his personal public outing.
The only thing I didn’t like was the Boston accent of the narrator- not sure if it sounded authentic, sounded more affected.

Cute and funny

This was a cute fake boyfriend, and an interesting take on a family being to supportive. I liked the couple together, and Lennon and his desire for his articles to be published.

Once again, I always enjoy how the author does not make the characters sickingly sweet and mushy. She thoughtfully shows their love and story in a realistic way.

There was a lot of humor here and I found myself laughing out loud at the jokes, especially the ones in Ollie's family.

The narrators do an excellent job, as usual. The Boston accent was spot on (I know someone from Boston and it sounds just like him), and both characters has unique voices. What I enjoy about these narrators, is each books voices are different. It isn't the exact same accent and voice for every book, many narrators do that. So each book sounds the same.

This entire series, and the spin offs are fun to read, hit you in the feels, and the friendships and bonds she creates in her characters are heartwarming. Everyone needs a tribe, and I love how this tribe grows with every book.

Deke, Fake Boyfriend 3

This book was AHHHMAZING

So Good. And Freaking Funny.

Literally the first Chapter I was spitting my coffee out laughing, I was not expecting this book to be so funny.

Lennon and Ollie are such a good match. I think the way they met and some of the stuff that happens after they re-meet are just so much fun to read/hear it was definitely entertaining and my Favorite of the series so far. Even though I really did love the first two books as well. omg and Ollie's family is seriously funny too... One word.... "Clark" lol... I enjoyed the story line for this "Fake Boyfriend" book. It was different than some of the other books I've read with the same "trope" which keeps you interested and invested in the story and how it progresses. I was glad these guys got their HEA without too much drama and little angst, it was just all fun.

Audio - Once again the dynamic between the two voices Iggy Toma & Alexander Cendese and the character personalities/traits they had to narrate in this book were pretty perfect. I loved both their voices for these guys and will be listening to this one again in the near future.

Opposites do attract!

Deke was a fun addition to the Fake Boyfriend Series. I enjoy the pairing of Alexander Cendese and Iggy Toma, especially in this book- the athlete and the nerd, they both played their parts well.
I liked Ollie and Lennon, they were cute together. There was some back and forth between them, as Ollie wasn't out, but I was happy it didn't cause a whole lot of conflict. I really liked the the ending, the way Ollie stood with a fellow hockey player in support, and was finally willing to own his truth as well.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes --- Did the story keep me engaged: yes --- Was I invested in the characters: yes --- Delightfully entertaining, I think of the series, this one is my favorite. Can't go wrong with the Hocky God and the Nerdy Journalist, this one felt lighter than the others and I enjoyed Ollie and Lennon's dynamic. --- Narration comment: Both narrators are terrific on their own and do a great job on their respective characters chapters, but in my opinion dual narration is unnecessary for a M/M book. Either narrator would have been an excellent choice for the entire book, both narrators are excellent voice actors but I didn't like having 2 different voices for each character (it felt like there were 4 main characters instead of 2).

Funny, relaxing and well written

This is one of my favourite books. The story is funny, no matter how many times I listen it I alway laugh out loud which is a bit embarrassing, when I'm doing it in public. :D The characters are funny, sometimes awkward (like in real life) and capable to learn and improve themselves. The narrators were able to catch the character's personality. I can just recommend this book to everyone.

Ending was abrupt

This series has been outstanding. The narration and storyline are good. My only note is that each book tends to end so abruptly the book does not feel complete.
