Lovely lady Cool Darlene!! (LL Cool D!!)

I love the book and it was great to understand that Darlene was raised by these two good men and quite frankly I think she came out a 110 percent good strong woman. I see a lot of her on C Hulcombs 5150 Show and I love it. To see how she can keep up with the fellas is a small bit of proof of the woman she has grown to be and I'm sure what we see in the public is a very small picture of who Miss OG Darlene Ortiz really is. They say a real good love only comes around once in life time which is a statement I don't necessarily believe. I really hope she finds real love again.Much love to her and her family, much respect and great book Darlene. You are definitely an accurate definition of being down. True love from your fan Shawn, Peace Love and Happiness to you D.

Great telling of her story. Enjoyed the audible version because you can hear her honesty.

Worth a listen 5150 Nation

Good listen. Wish she had edited out the
mistakes for a smooth listen. Also would have been nice to review the pictures in the book while she talks about how the pic happened. But overall a good listen.👌👍

Great Insight on Hip Hop in the 80s

Great hip hop love story. I appreciate Darlene perspective on life. Very informative and relatable. I guess I have to listen to Ice-T's audible to see how his story compares to hers.

Excellent Listen!

This was a great and very important hip hop story. We don't always get to hear points of view from our women in hip hop. The only minor thing I didn't understand were the bad takes and mistakes that were not edited out. Other than that, this is an excellent book!

Loved it

This book was a phenomenal listen. Started it at work and listened all the way through. I listen to the 5150 show frequently and just wanted to hear more then you let loose on the show. This book did that job. I would reccomend this to anyone who loves hip hop or stories of overcoming struggles.

Interesting Perspective

Have to admit, I saw the movie New Jack City and grew interested in Ice-T. He's just kinda magnetic. Anyway I wanted to learn more about him. I know he was a rapper at some point, I've just never heard his music to be honest. But I've seen him on a few TV shows. I grew more intrigued when I saw online that he had a relationship with a Mexican American woman named Darlene. And as she said in her book, interracial relationships were rare or odd. So I wanted to learn more about Darlene and how she came to be a part of Ice-T's life. In conclusion, she seems like a really cool person and I am dissapointed that the relationship did not work out (fault of Ice-T). I wish her well.

WOW!! PHENOMENAL

I didn't realize how important Darlene Ortiz had a huge role in the hip hop industry. She was the true and original ride and did chick, a very rare find in this day and age.
