Summary

Norah McNamara thought she had found the perfect man.

Sure, he had his anger issues, but given his charity work, she believed Clayton Matthews's good qualities far outweighed the bad.

What she didn't count on, however, was the secret life he lived behind the scenes of his generous organization.

Harley Andrews is damn good at his job.

An ex-cop turned private enforcer, Harley is brought in to investigate Clayton Matthews; instead, Harley finds himself putting everything on the line to protect the bastard's beautiful fiancé. After an unforeseen attack during one of Clayton's charity banquets, Harley throws himself into a spray of bullets to protect Norah.

And as Norah finds herself thrown into Clayton's dark world, she discovers she has only one man to count on, and it's not her fiancé. Because as it turns out, Clayton Matthews was quite the charitable bastard.

Great romantic suspense with plenty of surprises!

This was a great romantic suspense story with lots of twists and surprises throughout, I loved the main characters almost instantly and despite the attempts to pull them apart they kept trying to find their way back to each other. I actually would've liked a bit more of the romance as the action seemed to take over in parts. Jessica Wayne is a new to me author and I will definitely read more of her books. Vicki did well with the narration but I felt it might have been better with a younger voice as it felt like the narration didn't quite keep to pace with the speed of the story. Overall this was an exciting and intriguing story that I would recommend. #audiobook obsession

Reviewed for Audiobook Obsession

Deceived by Jessica Wayne, narrated by Vicki Pierce.

The name of the book pretty much sums up this story, and while your listening to this story you will agree this young woman was deceived.
Vicki injected life into this action filled, suspenseful, intriguing, slow burn romance.

Enjoyable

This was my first book by this author and it was enjoyable. While I did think it was a good story and characters had good development I found the story a bit slow for me. I personally like more suspense and action while this story had more build up and romance. As for the narration again I feel that it was ok. I didn't dislike but it didn't blow me away. I again did enjoy the listen but did think it added to story. Over all it was a good listen.

Full of Romance and suspense

This is my first ever book from this author. I thoroughly enjoyed the catch from the beginning, and the suspense throughout the book. It kept me guessing until the very last page. The narration was also amazing.

Lots of twists and turns!

Deceived is a romantic suspense book that is filled with action and adventure. The beginning will suck you in and the twists and turns will leave you guessing until the end. I was unfamiliar with Jessica Wayne before listening to this but I will be sure to see what other books she has written as I loved this one. Vicki Pierce did a very good job narrating this story and bringing all the characters to life.

Action packed romantic suspense!

Just when I needed a good, action packed romance, Jessica Wayne brings me Deceived. This is a fast paced, suspense filled thriller with steamy passion and a villain you can't wait to see get his own! Norah and Clay are attending a fundraiser when all of a sudden they are being shot at. Harley, a special agent saves Norah, and we begin to see the evil web that has been woven by Clay. Norah is a strong and beautiful woman, and I think was totally underestimated. Harley is one you can't help but love. Protective, honest and loving, this agent is the one you want taking care of you. Their attraction is palpable and the need to bring the deception to an end necessary for their lives to move on. The danger is high, they can trust no one, and their love will pull them through. The edge of your seat thrills keep the tension high and the passion hot.

Vicki Pierce brings it all to life, with the many characters. She does a good job with the voices and for the most part the story flows. At times there are a few pacing issues, but her ability to give the suspense and thrills is spot on. It's my first listen of her narration and I look forward to more!

Action and Suspense Abound

Audiobook review. The story was full of action and suspense right off the bat with a mystery behind the relationship that Norah and Clayton had and a jaded Harley coming to Norah’s rescue.

It remains steadily fast paced throughout and definitely hooks the reader. It was a testament to how good people can get caught up in some crazy stuff. The writing was good and the imagery done well.

This is the first time I’ve heard the narrator, Vicky Pierce, and the voice would’ve been stronger with more inflections. She sounded a bit raspy and I’m not sure if that’s a characteristic of her voice or if she was perhaps getting over being sick but the result was that her tone was on the lower side. Aside from that she did a good job and was clear in her diction.
