Story
"Call me Ishmael." Thus starts the greatest American novel. Melville said himself that he wanted to write "a mighty book about a mighty theme" and so he did. It is a story of one man's obsessive revenge-journey against the white whale, Moby-Dick, who injured him in an earlier meeting. Woven into the story of the last journey of The Pequod is a mesh of philosophy, rumination, religion, history, and a mass of information about whaling through the ages.

Worst book I’ve seen in my entire life as a book worm
I’m 56 and have been a voracious reader my entire life-reading 12th grade level by 3rd grade. So I’ve gone through thousands of printed books and hundreds of audible books during my life so far. I’m not a snob and read things in almost every genre out there, but this stinker is so bad I can’t finish it. I’ve started it three times and just can’t cheat myself out of good reading/listening time, life is too short. It’s like the author was trying to prove that he knew a lot of words and vomited a dictionary all over the pages. The wordiness completely interferes with the plotline. This storyline has been done much better by several other authors. There’s not much the narrator can do with it.

Disappointing
This book started out well, as an interesting story that involved action and what not. But after about the halfway point it got very wordy and devolved from the actual action into a lot of personal reflection by the characters that really felt like it dragged on way too long. Overall I was disappointed in what had potential to be a really good story.

Likes: future meets prehistoric past is a good concept
Dislike: little character development, even less of the actual “beast”. Lots of rabbit hole content that should have never made final print.

I don't know what I expected
Read the reviews and figured I'd see what the fuss was about... I only got halfway through. Glad it was free.
Yeah, its not the best. It reads like a generic 70's B movie, and one of the bad ones at that.
I was half expecting to hear a MST3K commentary cut in.
I'm all for cheesy and unlikable characters but these guys are distasteful and psychopathic. And for Pete's sake, don't name the dino "Deathbeast", very corny.
It's a cool idea, but the story feels like the land described in it: alien and not meant for humans.
Thanks for helping me see what not to do when writing.

Sorry Ears
I almost always listen to a full book no matter how much it hurts. And, I listened to this one entirely in spite of reviews that cautioned otherwise.
The basic story has potential. But, the author does not fully or even partially develop the characters. I read a review that said the author was overly wordy. That may be so, but I envisioned this narrated differently and I could say that it may have seemed seemed that way because of the very weak reading.
The reading led me to envision each character as a child or an overly insecure adult seeking parental warmth. I could see this read by other narrators (Scott Brick for instance) that may have made this a more enjoyable book. But even the fantastic Mr. Brick could not bring this book up more than a two star to me.
Sadly, the premise had real potential, but I found the product lacking.

Could of been a shorter
This book had an interesting premise, but was bogged down by very long descriptions of unimportant things. Example he spent about 20 minutes rambling about the moon and fairies. It would be like watching Jaws and it took 6 hours to kill the shark at the end.
Skip this book it is not even worth listening to it for free.
